For decades, medical records have been the bottleneck in decision-making for insurance and legal professionals. Historically, the inability to efficiently analyze medical data has slowed decisions, delayed outcomes, and forced highly trained professionals to spend their time searching for a needle in a haystack instead of using their expertise to make informed decisions.

Fortunately, this status quo is beginning to change. With the advent of new technologies, medical records should no longer be the thing holding teams back. The same way navigation used to be the most frustrating, time-consuming part of a road trip, and now everybody takes for granted how easy it is to get anywhere in the world with GPS.

At DigitalOwl, we continue to focus on removing the friction in medical record reviews that has held the industry back for years, and 2025 has been a transformative year. This year has changed our company. And while I’m excited for what’s ahead, I want to take a moment to reflect on the major wins that defined the past twelve months.

We advanced our product with new capabilities that help professionals make faster, more accurate decisions from medical records. We strengthened our team, elevated new leaders, earned industry recognition, and joined Datavant and Ontellus to accelerate the mission we’ve been building from day one. It has been a fast, demanding, energizing stretch of work. Here’s a look at what we accomplished.

Innovation in Medical Data Analysis

This year we made measurable progress in building products that reshape how insurance and legal professionals review medical records.

We significantly advanced our Case Notes product, expanding and refining it for both P&C and legal teams. Case Notes goes far beyond a traditional medical record summarization. It connects the dots, surfaces the insights that matter, and helps professionals get to the heart of a case faster. In 2025, we focused on shaping it to the exact needs of claims adjusters and attorneys, adding demand letter analysis, billing reports, claim assessments, and insights tailored to the way they work.

We also introduced our in-depth analysis Chat feature, giving insurance and legal professionals the ability to answer complex medical questions in a single pass. It delivers direct, evidence-linked responses that make medical record review faster, clearer, and significantly more efficient.

Another milestone was the launch of our new Self-Serve solution. Designed for the way attorneys work, this solution provides 24/7 access to our platform and delivers organized summaries, timelines, and key insights in a few hours. We further enhanced this solution by adding medical record chronologies, giving firms an affordable and highly accurate way to get the information they need from medical records. Demand for this product is already strong, and I am excited to see how it continues to grow in the coming year.

2025 innovations in AI for medical record reviews

Acquisition by Datavant

One of the most significant milestones of 2025 was our acquisition by Datavant. This moment reflects both the strength of our product and the growing demand for a smarter, more connected way to work with medical data.

Together with Datavant and Ontellus, we are working toward a unified, end-to-end platform for medical records with secure record retrieval, structured data, medical record summaries, and decision-ready insights all in one place. Our technology for extracting, structuring, and summarizing complex medical data will become a core part of this larger vision, while Ontellus adds nationwide retrieval capabilities and Datavant provides the trusted, secure data-exchange network that powers the healthcare ecosystem. For customers this means faster access to the information they need, less time spent manually reviewing medical records, and one convenient location for all their medical record related needs.

DigitalOwl’s services continue uninterrupted, and the opportunities ahead have expanded significantly. This acquisition marks the start of a new chapter, enabling us to accelerate our mission and deliver even greater impact for the professionals who rely on us every day.

Investing in People

This year, we strengthened our organization by investing in leadership and expanding the teams that support our customers every day.

Sean Allen, our SVP of Sales and Customer Success, took on a more hands-on role leading the entire customer-facing organization. This shift unified sales, enablement, and customer success under one leader, creating clearer accountability, faster feedback loops, and a more connected experience for every client. Sean’s commitment to customer outcomes has shaped much of our progress this year.

We also elevated Krystina Murawski to Director of Customer Success. Krystina has been instrumental in scaling our self-serve solution and building a culture of responsiveness and execution. In her new role, she brings that same structure and drive to all customer relationships, helping ensure that every client feels supported and sees measurable value in their work with DigitalOwl. Krystina adds depth, rigor, and additional support to our growing customer base, reinforcing our commitment to high-touch, proactive partnership.

These changes reflect a simple truth: the success of our customers depends on the strength of our people. In 2025, we invested in the leaders and teams who make that possible.

Celebrating our Team

At the center of everything we accomplished this year is a team whose energy, honesty, and openness continue to shape DigitalOwl’s culture in the best possible ways. In 2025, we didn’t just grow as a company; we grew closer as a team.

One of the highlights of the year was bringing our team together in Las Vegas. It was an opportunity to celebrate our acquisition, strengthen cross-functional relationships, and spend real time with the people who represent DigitalOwl every day. That time together created a renewed sense of connection, alignment, and shared purpose that carried through the rest of the year.

Our product and engineering teams also took a two-day trip that became one of the most memorable team moments of 2025. They pushed themselves outside their comfort zones with activities like bungee jumping, capped it off with a live concert, and came back with a stronger sense of trust, communication, and collaboration. Those experiences directly influenced how they work together and how they build for our customers.

Across every team, the positivity, curiosity, and willingness to be candid with one another continued to stand out. This culture of open communication and mutual support is what enables us to move fast, tackle hard problems, and stay aligned as we grow.

As we look ahead, I could not be more grateful for the people who make up DigitalOwl and the momentum they continue to create.

Recognition for Our Work

2025 was a year of meaningful recognition that reflected both the impact of our technology and the strength of the people behind it. We were proud to be named a Best Place to Work for the second year in a row, underscoring our commitment to a culture rooted in support, collaboration, and growth.

Our product innovation received major industry accolades as well. Case Notes was recognized with the 2025 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award and DigitalOwl was named the Natural Language Generation Platform of the Year in the AI Breakthrough Awards. We also won Best Underwriting Technology in the prestigious Global Insurtech Awards and received a 2025 BIG Innovation Award for our expanded Case Notes capabilities. Our dedication to customer partnership was further acknowledged with a win in the 2025 Excellence in Customer Service Awards

We were also honored that our Self-Serve solution for legal professionals was named Product of the Year in the 2025 BIG Awards for Business and I was proud to be recognized with an ID Twenty Award by the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) for “Innovation and Trailblazing” in the insurance industry.

Each of these honors reflects our commitment to building technology that truly transforms the way insurance and legal professionals work, and to fostering a team environment where exceptional people can do their best work.

Looking Ahead

In 2026, medical records should never be the reason important decisions are delayed. Instead, insurance and legal teams should view them as an opportunity to get a leg-up and crucial to understanding a case or claim early. Because surely you’d rather your airplane pilot navigate with GPS than a paper map.

The work ahead is important, and we are ready for it. Thank you for being part of this journey.
