NEW YORK, NY and TEL AVIV, Israel - We are pleased to announce that DigitalOwl has received SOC 2 Type II Accreditation. The certification is issued by outside auditors on behalf of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). DigitalOwl’s SOC 2 Type II audit was conducted by KPMG International. The controls operated effectively throughout the period April 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.
What is SOC 2?
SOC 2 compliance certification is recognized globally for its rigor in the review of the organization’s systems and organizational controls. SOC 2 is an independent audit conducted to review the company’s effective implementation of employee controls and training, IT systems and risk management control, product discipline, and vendor selection.
SOC 2 defines the criteria for managing a customer’s data based on five “trust service principles”, which are security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. KPMG assessed the extent to which DigitalOwl complies with the five trust principles based on our current operating systems and processes.
The audit reviewed DigitalOwl's processes relating to Security Management, Logical and Physical Security Access, Change Management, Data Backup and Disaster Recovery, Incident Response and System Monitoring.
What is Type I vs Type II?
A Type I report analyzes the suitability of an organization’s control on a specified date. The Type I designation shows that DigitalOwl is oriented in a secure direction and meets the “trust service principles” with our processes as they stand currently.
A Type II report reviews sustainability over a specified period of time. In other words, the Type II designation shows that controls have been implemented properly over several months. The report outlines any significant changes that may have occurred, delivering a more comprehensive picture of how an organization manages security over time.
